1916 McKinley Gold Dollar. PCGS graded MS-65. Frosty and untoned, with nice cartwheel luster and great eye appeal.

The dating of this piece has no relation to any significant dates in McKinley's life (he was born in 1843 and died in 1901). Rather, the purpose of the coins was to raise money for the construction of the McKinley Birthplace Memorial in Niles, Ohio, dedicated in October 1917. Breen calls the reverse an inaccurate portrayal of the Memorial, but it seems close to the pictures we've seen (PCGS # 7454) .
Estimated Value $1,700 - 1,900.
